Whenever the Fall season comes around, Trader Joe’s is one of my first stops. I grab my pumpkin chai from Starbucks and grab a red cart. My top faves from last year include the Pumpkin Samosas and Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls. So we’ll see if they make it to the top of the list this year, too. There were also a few that I tried and didn’t love like the Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese, Autumnal Harvest Soup, and Pumpkin Bagels. I know some people love those, but they just weren’t my thing. So let’s see what this year has in store for me and see what makes it to the top of the list!
What items are the contenders?
After taking a stroll past the most gorgeous TJ flowers, yall know what I’m talking about. It was time to narrow in on this year’s fall treat and goodie contenders. Though everything looked so tasty and tempting (truly don’t go shopping when you’re hungry) here are the items I picked for the Fall 2024 taste test and my initial thoughts.
1. Pumpkin Waffles
Although I ate every single one of these waffles, I’m going to be honest… they weren’t that special. They tasted just like any other frozen waffle you might pick up. But, they were still delicious if that’s what you are craving.
2. Pumpkin Samosas
The pumpkin samosas were a favorite of mine last year and they still remain a favorite. The spices, texture, and flavor are absolutely prefect for these little treats. I just throw them in the toaster oven for the recommended amount of time for something quick, easy, and tasty. My only wish is that they came with an equally delicious dipping sauce.
3. Fall Leaf Chips
Ok these have to be the cutest little chips ever. They taste just like your normal tortilla chips although maybe a little less salty. I don’t think they’re worth going out of your way, but if you’re planning on having some chips and dip these will certainly add a fun fall-twist!
4. Toscano Cheese Dusted with Cinnamon
This cheese is incredible. The cheese itself is the perfect balance between hard cheeses and soft, but then you add the cinnamon which is such a wonderful complement to the actual flavor of the cheese. Pair these with the Pumpkin Cranberry Crips, listed next for #5, and you’ve got a delicious, seasonal snack.
5. Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps
The Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps are the oddest combination of savory and sweet, crispy and soft. I didn’t love them on their own, the contradictions were just a little too strange. But paired with the Toscano Cinnamon Cheese, my husband and I ended up finishing the whole box!
These would probably be delicious paired with a soft cheese or added to a fall-themed charcuterie board, too.
6. Harvest Blend Herbal Tea
If you like cinnamon gum or other cinnamon-flavored goodies this will be a win for you. Unfortunately, the cinnamon was too strong for me and this was a big miss. But it did smell divine.
7. Savory Squash Pastry Bites
The savory squash bites weren’t very memorable, but they were easy to make for a quick, impressive looking appetizer.
8. Pumpkin Streusel Muffins
These muffins were somehow dry and not dry at the same time. The muffin top was so sticky it was difficult to eat, and while the streusel did not taste like normal streusel, it was still delicious! If you’re looking for a festive, gluten-free treat, these could be a win for you.
Now we’re getting into the non-consumable honorable mentions
9. Orange & Spice Candle
The orange spice candle came in a set with the candle and a room spray. The candle smelled so so good, but didn’t throw a lot of scent. The room spray was a welcome surprise. I don’t typically use rooms sprays and was hoping to just purchase the candle alone, but I’m so glad I got both! The room spray was even better than the candle and I can’t wait to use it throughout the fall season.
10. Harvest Brunch Dog Treats
Our dog loves these harvest brunch dog treats, but be warned that each treat is 31 calories! The treats we usually give our dog are 5-12 calories each so these are good for a special occasion treat, but definitely are not an every day treat – at least for our girl.
In all of these options there was a delicious, cozy mix of pumpkin, cinnamon, apple, and cloves. But there were 3 items that stood out above all the others.
Pumpkin Samosas
for their flavor, texture, and ease to cook
Cinnamon Dusted Toscano Cheese
for it’s unique taste
Fall Leaf Chips
for their festive-fun design
So there you have it, your Fall 2024 Trader Joe’s Top Three. I feel bad that I didn’t have the most positive review this year. Keep in mind that everything was good, but I think I just have extra-high expectations for Trader Joe’s because they have some really amazing gems. Please take everything I say with a grain of salt because everyone’s tastes and preferences are going to vary.
I hope you can find some new goodies to try with this information in mind and that you are having a wonderful, fall season.
